During the war the soldiers who happened to own a pocket watch found it cumbersome to have to go through their pockets to look at the time. Some of them had watches with bands but most of the workers came from working class families and couldn't afford watches. The government needed a way for its troops to be able to synchronize time for missions and special operations. So the government decided to issue its soldiers basic wrist watches. After the war wrist watches became a common item even for lower class families.

Over the years Casio Watches and other wrist watches have gone through many changes and have expressed many different ideas. In the course of the 20th century they went from just being time pieces to fashion accessories to almost becoming obsolete, to again being a sign of high fashion and wealth. With top designers bringing people fashionable watches a person has a many options to choose from when selecting a time piece. In the age where cell phones can do anything there is still a use for a watch. A watch like the Casio Baby G Solar can convey many different things. It can convey style and help you be noticed. With the economic recession we are in now people are spending less and less money on flashy items. Even people who weren't penny pinchers before are now holding on to their disposable income. So it makes sense that spending thousands of dollars on a single watch would be ludicrous by today's standards. Companies like Rolex, Bertolucci, Oris, Vulcain, and Versace are selling less watches due to their high prices. While these big names have paved the way for luxury watches, currently the smaller designers reign supreme in the watch market.

If you are looking for a nice and elegant designer watch you can do no worse than purchasing a designer watch by the big names. But if that's not an option, there are plenty of other quality watches available.
